Just some of the feedback from the latest AI in Media courses in 2025!
Elizabeth provided a really clear overview of the latest innovations in generative AI that are starting to be deployed in newsrooms. My students found this really helpful, and were amazed by the capabilities of the latest tools in audio and image generation. She gave some really inspiring examples of how journalists are using AI tools by, for example, getting them to sift through vast amounts of data, leading to significant breakthroughs in investigations. Elizabeth emphasised the opportunities that these tools open up to journalists, which was a refreshing perspective for students who often hear a more negative angle about the impact of AI on job prospects. Her talk helped demystify AI and inspired us all to prepare ourselves for this revolution in news production.
The AI in Media course—developed and run by Elizabeth Mearns — was a game-changer: insightful, cutting-edge, and brilliantly delivered. It transformed my understanding of AI’s role in content creation, research, and beyond. The practical takeaways are already proving invaluable. A must for media professionals ready to embrace the future!
Elizabeth was incredibly approachable and helpful. She created a social media campaign for the launch of my book Beneath the Lemon Trees. Using mobile journalism she created a series of videos including brain storming, scripting, shooting and editing. She then administered the social media ads campaign. She explained her strategy at every stage and took me though the production process and placing of ads on social platforms empowering me to create campaign updates in my own time if I wanted to. I learned a lot about social media production, posting and strategy and recommend her approach to others that need to learn to market themselves on a smaller budget.
